Their main influence has always been the Art Deco period in the 1930’s. During this period, exotic materials were used to make furniture and decorative objects. Ria & Yiouri have adopted these materials, including parchment (goatskin), shagreen (stingray skin), ostrich, snake, lizard, crocodile and exotic shells such as mother-of-pearl, bamboo and pen shell. They mix unconventional fabrics drawn from their homes in Paris and the Philippines to create what many call “modern vintage”.
