McGuire is internationally known for creating high-end, designer furniture of rattan, woven peel, solid teak, bamboo, Oriental hardwoods, laced rawhide and aluminum. The company was founded in 1948 in San Francisco by John and Elinor McGuire with the notion that the natural strength and beauty of rattan coupled with classic designs could move this furniture from the sun porch to the living room.
The company has commissioned some of the world's top designers. Orlando Diaz-Azcuy, Barbara Barry, Michael Vanderbyl and Adam Tihany have continued the company's tradition of creating timeless designs in bold, unexpected materials. The product line has expanded to include a stunning array of lamps in copper repoussé and cloisonné, the latter designed by noted artist Robert Kuo.
