Andre Arbus
Born in 1903, Andre Arbus was a third-generation French cabinetmaker trained in the same traditional techniques as those showcased by 18th century masters Thomas Chippendale and George Hepplewhite. Part furniture designer, architect, sculptor and philosopher, Arbus changed the direction of modern French decor and architecture.
The Baker Andre Arbus Collection is a best-in-class selection modelled from the originals by this 20th century master of neoclassical design. It demonstrates the enduring beauty and prevailing relevance his furnishings represent. Moreover, the pieces in this collection reflect Arbus' genius for material, proportion and construction.

Press Release 5 May 2011
Cavit & Co are pleased to announce that we are relocating our showroom in Melbourne to new premises at 863 High Street, Armadale.
Although only 500 meters from our existing showroom the new showroom at 863 High Street is 615 sq meters and over three times the size. This will enable us to display a much wider selection of furniture and accessories from the premium ranges that we distribute.
“Our suppliers offer and continue to release an exciting range of existing and new collections and we have been frustrated in not being able to fully represent some of the wonderful products available” says Ian Cavit. “The increased space allows us to display more appropriately these items”.
The new showroom offers street level viewing in a premium location in Armadale. It maintains a “boutique” presence in a design precinct in Melbourne which has worked well for us over the last five years. Melbourne has welcomed the “contemporary classic” product that Cavit & Co offers and the higher profile that our new location will provide is appropriate to market interest.
Cavit & Co anticipates operating from the new showroom mid June 2011.

Macao Garden Set
From the time he was discovered in 1941 until his death in 1999 American designer and architect Tony Duquette was known and admired for his exuberante signature style.
Cast from resin, the Macao Garden Seat was used extensively in Duquette's interior and outdoor installations. Duquette loved the versatility of the design, which easily adapted from seating to a table wherever needed. He painted them in brilliant coral or stark white for just a pop of color.
Keeping true to the original, Baker chose Coral or Pearl Lacquer to complete the piece. Circa 1960.
